FAQs
Short answer: No. At the moment in the UK an Independent Celebrant cannot legally marry a couple. However, this is hopefully hanging soon under the new Wedding Law Reform. Until then, a couple needs to have a legally binding service with a Registrar. This can happen at Registry Office and all you need is two witnesses. Lots of couples are doing 'the legal bit' before and then having the wedding they want, with a personalised ceremony with all their loved ones present.
As soon as possible. If you have a date and venue, book your celebrant! If you haven't got a date yet, you can start to get in touch with celebrants to see who is the best fit for you.
I'm based in Leeds, but I'm really happy to travel! If you're more than two hours from Leeds then we'll have a chat about travel/accomodation fees in the booking stage.
These vary depending on the type of ceremony, travel and if there are any extras (such as speech writing - I'll go through these in the booking). For a Wedding or Vow Renewal my base rate is £700. This includes an initial meeting, couples questionnaires, another more detialed meeting to plan, 2 drafts of a script, check ins during the run up to the day and of course leading the ceremony on the day itself. For a Funeral or Celebration of Life the base rate is £250. This includes an in person meeting, liaising with the funeral directors or communicating with the venue, sourcing readings and music, 2 drafts of a script and leading the ceremony. If you are interested in a Naming Ceremony please get in touch for prices as it depends on what you would like and where you are based. Any questions, please do get in touch! I know talking about money is not very british but I want to be as transparent as possible!
Still Have Questions?
If your question isn't answered above then please do get in touch and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. It doesn't matter how small or trivial you think it might be - I want to hear it!
